We can’t complain as far as the weather is concerned lately, even if times are anything but nice right now. All the more reason to lose yourself in a good book. A Scandinavian thriller, for example! There are a lot of new books in this genre, so there’s no need to get bored. And easy: you can order them right away at Paagman. You don’t even have to leave your house! It may take a little longer for your book to arrive because of the corona virus.

The books by Lina Bengtsdotter

Lezen spannend

Lina Bengtsdotter has written not one but already two books in the Charlie Lager series. The first book, The Woman Who Had to Go Back, sucks you right into the main character’s life. Charlie Lager, after the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl, has to return to her parental village. And that’s not easy! Little by little you get to know her background while the investigation is in full swing. The second book, the children who went into the woods, is also highly recommended! Let there be many more of these!

Horst Enger – Zero Point

The book Zero Point was written by not one, but no less than two writers. Jørn Lier Horst is best known for his Wisting quartet: Red Snow, The Hermit, Hunting Dogs and Wanderlust. It has also been made into a fun Netflix series, by the way! Thomas Enger has written a series about Henning Juul. His books are: Apparent Death & Phantom Pain (omnibus), Blood Mist & Family Weapon (omnibus) and Deathstroke. Now, in the book Zero Point, these top Norwegian writers join forces! This promises nothing but great things.

Ragnar Jonasson – Snowblind

The book Snowblind is set in Iceland. Brand new cop Ari Thor starts his job as a police officer in this idyllic town where no one has to lock their door. But the safe feeling of the village is soon over when a bleeding, unconscious woman is found in the snow and a writer dies under suspicious circumstances. A haunting thriller for many hours of reading pleasure!

Kim Faber & Janni Pedersen – Winterland

Thuis lezen

Winterland is an exciting book from beginning to end! Martin Junker is sent from Copenhagen to a small, boring town after a mistake. His job is to keep the peace around an asylum seekers’ center. His former partner in Copenhagen gets a great case thrown at him. This, of course, is no fun for Junker. But when he gets a murder on his desk that seems to have ties to his former partner’s case, things get fun again! Definitely highly recommended!

Jussi Adler-Olsen – Series Q

This book series is another delightful read and four parts of it can be found on Netflix. Eight books of it have now been published: The Woman in the Cage, The Pheasant Killers, The Cry of Distress in the Bottle, File 64, The Marco Effect, The Boundless, Selfies and Victim 2117. Agent Carl Mørk is “exiled” to the Cold Cases department, where he and a colleague must archive old files. But each time something happens related to a cold case and the men manage to solve it. Very exciting!
