Eating out at restaurants with a first name in the name

Restaurants can sometimes have the craziest names, but what is the story behind them? We found out for you which first name restaurants are great to eat at!
Annie’s in Leiden
I remember Annie’s as Annie’s Birthday when I was in school in Leiden. I always found it hilarious to say “I’ll see you at Annie’s birthday!” after which all the puzzled looks followed. After all, who is Annie? Oh well what does it really matter? What matters is that Annie’s (as it is called these days) has been a household name in Leiden for years.
You can relax on the terrace after shopping, for example, where you have a beautiful view of the water. The menu is extensive and diverse, so you can eat well. Highly recommended!
Restaurant Justin in ‘s-Gravenzande
Would you like to be culinary surprised? Then book a table at Restaurant Justin. Chef Justin only serves surprise menus to his customers. You can only choose whether you want a 3, 4, 5 or 6-course dinner! The food here is beautifully presented and is truly delicious. Justin also regularly organizes themed evenings, such as a wine&dine and an Asian evening.
Do you like delicious Asian food? Then you should definitely try Restaurant Jasutin, Justin’s little Asian brother (Jasutin also means Justin, but in Japanese). It’s right next door! There, Asian Fusion meets elegant French cuisine with a modern and contemporary atmosphere.
The Kitchen of Thijs in Utrecht
Where the name of the following lunchroom comes from is not hard to guess. Thijs Rullens founded the cozy living room lunchroom De Keuken van Thijs in 2012.
Soon they had to move to a larger location, because in the meantime this lunchroom has grown into a real catering organization. De Keuken van Thijs is a cozy base after or during a day in Utrecht. We also had a delicious lunch here!
Sjaakies Shakes in Zwolle
You will find true Limburg hospitality in…. Zwolle! After all, that’s where the cozy Sjaakies Shakes opened its doors in 2018. But who is Sjaakie? The owner has always loved cooking, good food and beautiful, honest products, just like his grandfather Sjaakie!
So he didn’t have to think long about the name. Besides the most delicious milkshakes, you can also eat pancakes, sandwiches and other tasty things here.
In the restaurant you will only find long tables so it is possible that you share your table with people you do not know. That makes it extra fun and cozy!
Bistro Sophie
In Eindhoven, on the cozy Wilhelminaplein, you will find Bistro Sophie. This stylish brasserie has everything to offer you a delicious culinary evening.
From delicious French-Mediterranean food and an impressive collection of wines.
The bistro is named after Sophie of Wurtemberg, first wife of King William III. A lady of distinction! And you can taste that in the kitchen of this cozy restaurant.
Loetje
When Ludwig “Loetje” Klinkhamer opened a billiard cafe some 40 years ago, he made the “mistake” of putting his tenderloin steak on the menu. Soon, people came specially to his café who found the billiard table only in the way. And so the successful formula Loetje was born. Since then many establishments have been added and it is impossible to imagine life without Loetje! And who has never eaten a tasty steak from Loetje?
