You really don’t have to be young to like juvenile thrillers. They are very entertaining! They are very enjoyable to read and that’s great when you can’t keep your mind on more challenging books. Perfect for this crazy time! We have collected our favorites for you in a blog. And the best part is, you can order them right away at Paagman’s.

Nadine Swagerman

In 2018, Nadine Swagerman made a powerful debut with her book One Truth. Meanwhile, a second book of hers has also been published, namely the novella Maar ik ben jou niet. Both books are very popular with (younger) audiences and voluntarily get young people as young as 14 or so reading. Once you start her books, you can’t really stop.

Jennefer Mellink

Jennefer Mellink has now also written several YA (Young Adult) thrillers. For example, her books Evil Blood, Broken and Murdered Innocence are all super exciting. Her latest novella Opgepast is certainly no exception. The novellas (both Jennefer Mellink’s and Nadine Swagerman’s) are not too thick and are reasonably priced. You can buy another book for that!

Maren Stoffels

Another top Dutch author of YA thrillers is Maren Stoffels. With her books Fright Night, Room Service and Escape Room, she manages to keep many an adolescent (and adult) entertained for hours. Her books also focus on young people. All cleverly written and very exciting!

Helen Vreeswijk

Helen Vreeswijk writes books for young people that are not only very exciting, but also have very realistic themes. In her books she describes themes such as bullying(Judas), drug abuse(0verdosis), loverboys and stalking. Many of her books have been published and are well worth reading. Marieke Nijkamp

Marieke Nijkamp’s books also read like a train. They often have heavy subjects, such as a school shooting in the book, 54 minutes and suicide (0or not?) in Before I Let You Go. A writer we will definitely hear from more often!

Mirjam Mous

Mirjam Mous also writes these super exciting books. Very different from the books of Helen Vreeswijk, for example, these books are slightly more unbelievable, but no less fun to read. For example, Boy7 is about a boy who wakes up somewhere and has no idea who he is. In the book 2C, a class goes on a school trip to the Ardennes, but there turns out to be a bomb on board. And the book Virus, how could it be more appropriate, centers on a virus that causes two boys to become stranded in a mountain village from which they can’t get out. And there are a few more like this from Mirjam Mous!

Police, do not enter!

Can’t see the forest for the trees? Then the series“police do not tread” is definitely recommended! In this series, several authors write YA thrillers, each of which is enormously exciting. This will keep your teenager going for a while! You can recognize this series by the red and white “Police Do Not Enter” elastic band.

Margje Woodrow has written books titled Snitch, Offside, Devastated and Fake Trip (to be published May 26, 2020). Mel Wallis de Vries has written books you can read away in no time. The titles are nice and short like Fake, Silence, Wild, Chilly, Clamp and Shock. And many more. Eva Burgers also wrote a number of books for this exciting series. She wrote titles such as Despair, Fatal and Conspiracy. Cis Meijer also contributed, with titles such as Murder Game, Stunned, Dark Mind, Knock-Out, Trap and Hunt. Finally, Sophie McKenzie has also written some top YA thrillers such as Missing, Girl Missing, Sister Missing, 1 Second and Believe Me.

If there’s nothing in between these, we don’t know what is! Looking for more of our reading tips? Then take a look here. Have fun reading!
