Spring is on its way. And then we want to get out en masse. Some seek the hustle and bustle of the Dutch beaches, while others prefer to enjoy themselves in an attractive, rural spot in nature. Because that also gives you an optimal spring feeling!

We therefore went in search of cozy tea gardens to sit down and enjoy goodies in beautiful surroundings. Here is our list:

The Hague region

In The Hague region you can find several beautiful spots in the park, by the water or in a beautiful city garden. Two of these I would like to highlight this time. The first is Theeschenkerij IJgenweis Clingendael.

You will find the teashop in the middle of Clingendael Estate, where you can also enjoy the Japanese Garden twice a year.

IJgenweis arose from a collaboration between the Forestry Commission and SAB and focuses on sustainability, with an eye for people and the environment. After or before a lovely walk on the beautiful estate, the tea room is the perfect location to enjoy a nice afterglow. During the winter the tea shop is closed, but from March 30 you can visit them again for a delicious cup of tea.

Theeschenkerij IJgenweis

The other tea garden we highlight this time can be found at Landgoed Dorrepaal in Leidschendam. On the beautiful country estate, behind the fruit wall, the tea garden is hidden. At the tea garden there is a playground and a real gnome forest where the children can play safely while you enjoy the peace and quiet and the greenery around you! The tea garden is open from late March to early October. But you are also welcome all year round in the indoor tea garden in the garden store.

Sleeuwijk

Near the fortified town of Gorinchem you will find Theetuin Binnen & Buiten. The name says it all: when the weather is nice you can spend time outside and when the weather is less nice, you are welcome inside. Thanks to its location on the water, you can even rent a boat! Everything for a wonderful day out. And tea sommelier Karin regularly gives workshops where you can learn how to make the most delicious cup of tea.

Appeltern

On the edge of garden inspiration park Appeltern in Gelderland you will find Theetuin Appeltern. This tea garden is a wonderful resting point for hikers, cyclists and casual passers-by. Enjoy different kinds of tea and coffee and of course delicious homemade cakes here. You can also book a high tea here and even when the weather is not so good you can stay there. Combine your visit to the tea garden with a visit to the Gardens of Appeltern!

Region Rotterdam

Do you want to feel like you are on vacation in the countryside? Then settle down in the tea garden of Shirestal de Griendheuvel in Dordrecht. The garden is located on a real horse dairy and breeding farm. The garden is hidden in the yard and is accessible via an attractive lane with plum trees. Here you can enjoy the rural view, the Shire horses, their foals and of course all kinds of traditional delicacies.

Region Westland

Theetuin de Bongaard in de Lier(Westland) is extremely popular. Besides a very cozy tea garden you can also go there for a high tea or high wine. Make your reservations in time, because it can take up to three months before there is a place! The tea garden is filled with nice things and cozy seats, but it is all right. Really a lovely place to enjoy the nice weather and a nice cup of tea.

Voorschoten

In Voorschoten, you can enjoy yourself at Theehuis Jansland. This tea garden is special because of the fact that young people with disabilities can gain work experience here. It is small-scale and you can enjoy the farm animals on the premises. A few meters away is also petting zoo Voorschoten. A great base after a brisk walk in Park Rosenburgh.

Snelrewaard

Just outside Oudewater, you will find the village of Snelrewaard. Here, tucked away on a narrow country road you will find Theetuin de Kwakel. This tea garden is very popular among hikers and cyclists who enjoy an active day in the Green Heart. Here you can relax in the orchard with a cup of coffee or tea and a piece of homemade pie. All this while the chickens scratch around and the other animals keep you company. You can also buy all kinds of beautiful decorations!

Bakel

In the North Brabant town of Bakel you will find the Wild Raspberry Tea Garden. Located near beautiful natural areas such as the Grotelse Heide, the Biezen and the Stippelberg makes De Wilde Framboos Tea Garden a wonderful base to sit down with a good book. Nature is at the center of this tea garden, so you can have a wonderful time!

Utrecht region

In Eemnes, Utrecht, you will find a heavenly tea garden. Theetuin Eemnes enjoys much success and is on average slightly busier, but still atmospheric and cozy. For those seeking peace and quiet, there are also plenty of secluded seating areas scattered throughout the beautiful garden. You can come here not only for coffee, tea and pastries, but also various appetizers and ice cream. Workshops and other activities are also organized regularly. A beautiful garden to stroll through.

Amsterdam region

In the middle of the countryside but only a 15-minute drive from Amsterdam, you will find Theetuin Overleek (near Monnickendam). Here you can enjoy nature and also the water, because this tea garden is wonderfully situated on the water. When the weather is nice, you can rent a whisper boat. Don’t forget to bring a well-stocked picnic basket!

Also near Monnickendam, but in Zuiderwoude, you will find Theetuin ‘t Einde. Because of its idyllic location, this tea garden is very atmospheric. You can book several fun packages here that will make your day complete!
