A delicious tapas and wine tasting at Destino in Rotterdam

On December 12, the time had finally come! After being moved twice by the Corona measures, finally the Tapas & Vino of the Wine Wives could take place at Tapas restaurant Destino in Rotterdam. And we got to be there!
Wines & Destino
Wijnwijven & Destino have joined forces to organize a tasting where the tastiest combos of tapas and wine are reviewed. The concept consists of tasting 6 different wines. Matching tapas and pintxos from Destino’s kitchen will be served with each wine round.
On this Sunday afternoon, we were welcomed by Destino’s team and Wine Wives host Barbara. Reinbert, the owner of Destino, was already busy in the kitchen preparing all the delicious tapas. At the stroke of half past two all guests were inside and escorted to their tables and Barbara took the floor.
The afternoon started!
Barbara had already poured a glass of white wine for everyone in the meantime. Meanwhile, the Destino staff served everyone a delicious first dish. This was a whitefish flavored with spices, leeks, oil, bacon and more goodies. This first dish tasted finger-licking good and the Albarino was nice and fruity and fresh. So that promised good things!
Barbara told us more about the course of the afternoon and taught us how to taste wine. Using a taste chart, which she had previously placed on the tables, it was easier to identify the different flavors and aromas.
Flavorful wines with delicious tapas
As the afternoon progressed, we were spoiled with delicious wines and tapas. From the white fish to a pintxos with goat cheese, then Spanish ham, a deliciously tender chicken, the most delicious eggplant fritters you can find in the Netherlands and to finish a tasty brownie with amarena sauce. With each dish the Wine Wizards of course also served a delicious matching wine. Starting with two totally different tasting Albarino’s, a fruity Verdejo, and then moving on to the red Garnacha and Temperanillo. To finish with the chocolate dessert, we received a deliciously sweet red sherry.
Fun and facts about wines
And in between all the delicious wines and dishes, Barbara and her colleague Amber stopped by all our tables. This way everyone could give and discuss their opinions about the wines.
It was a very pleasant afternoon during which we were completely pampered. Especially with the Spanish cooking skills of Reinbert and his team, the hospitality and service of the serving staff and of course with the delicious wines and stories of Barbara and Amber. We enjoyed!
