Known for its dynamic culinary scene, Rotterdam offers countless places where you can enjoy delicious tapas. Whether you are looking for traditional Spanish flavors or innovative tapas creations, this city has it all. Here are some of the most extraordinary tapas restaurants and shared dining restaurants in Rotterdam that you should not miss.

Destino

For a sophisticated tapas experience, head to Destino, located in Rotterdam’s lively Old North. This stylish restaurant offers a seasonal menu with a focus on local and sustainable ingredients. The chef’s specialties are highly recommended. The menu changes regularly and always offers fresh, seasonal ingredients. From traditional patatas bravas to innovative combinations, every bite is a culinary surprise. Destino can be found on the Zaagmolenkade with its terrace right on the water of the Rotte River.

Gastrobar ELVY

On the Wilhelminakade at Kop van Zuid you will find worldly tapas Gastrobar Elvy by nhow. Both from the restaurant itself and from the terrace you have a view of the Nieuwe Maas and the spectacular skyline of Rotterdam.

Heaven on Earth

On the Oostzeedijk downstairs you will find De Hemel op Aarde. This cozy little restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy delicious tapas with a creative twist. The menu is inspired by both Spanish and world cuisine, and their selection of wines completes the experience.

Tapas restaurants in the center of Rotterdam

In and around the center of Rotterdam you can (of course) also find several nice tapas restaurants. For example, Supermercado is more than just a tapas bar; it is a Latin American street food paradise with delicious cocktails. Located in the heart of Rotterdam, this hot spot offers an array of dishes such as tacos, ceviche and empanadas. Perfect for those looking for something different from traditional tapas.

Ayla on Kruisplein is a real surprise. The menu features a wide assortment of Spanish tapas such as Pata Negra, Padron Peppers, Pulpo and Scallops. And of course the crispy calamari are not missing here. You can take a seat here in the cozy restaurant, the terrace with city views or sit quietly in the sunny city garden.

Oesters

At Gastrobar Hartig on Hartmansstraat everything is about enjoying good food and conviviality. This restaurant offers a wide selection of shared dining dishes, ranging from classic Spanish dishes to modern interpretations. Be sure to try the dates, scallops and mini pies. And on Wednesdays, it’s Happy Oyster Day here!

Boca’s on Mauritsweg does not call itself a tapas restaurant, but since they serve a very wide range of small bites, we thought this cozy place should not be missing from the list. During the day here you get a plank with all kinds of delicious small sandwiches and in the evening you enjoy Gamba croquettes, mini (vegan) hair salon, bruschettas, oreo pizzas and much more. All of this refined, flavored and affordable.
