Nice outdoor swimming
What could be better than swimming outside when it’s warm. Many outdoor swimming pools are open but perhaps it would also be nice to find a pool where you can have a nice swim. Of course, the quality of outdoor water is closely monitored. Before you go, always check if you can swim at your chosen spot. You can do that here.
Swimming in Zuid-Holland
There are lots of places in Zuid-Holland where you can go swimming. Here is a nice overview. Our favorites in South Holland are recreation area Delftse Hout and recreation area Reeuwijkse Hout near the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Also fun to take your dinghy to!
Swimming in North Holland
North Holland is also great for swimming on the water. Recreational area the Vooroever is a wonderful place. It has a sandy beach where even the little ones can have a good time. On the Sloterplas in Amsterdam you can also have a great time. As on Strand Zuidoever at the Gaasperplas in Amsterdam, this is an outdoor swimming paradise for children.
Swimming in Flevoland
Flevoland is already surrounded by water, but it also has a few nice recreational spots. For example, the Erkermeder beach is really nice for a day out. The Harderstrand is also a great location for swimming and relaxing. Nice and big and therefore coronaproof is a day at Almeerderstrand. Just pack the buckets and shovels!
Swimming in Utrecht
There are also plenty of places in Utrecht where you can recreate outdoors and have a nice swim. Take for example Zwemstrand Naarderbos which is just on the border with North Holland. Another nice place: De Haarrijnse Plas. You have a nice sandy beach and it is nice and clear. Perfect with younger children! And the Maarsseveense Plassen are definitely recommended in Utrecht and surroundings.
Swimming in Zeeland
In Zeeland, of course, it makes sense to go to the beach. But there are also recreational areas where you can have a wonderful summer day. The beaches along Lake Veere, for example! This is seawater but is an inland lake, so the water is calm and shallow. Recreational area Perkpolder is also a very nice place to cool off on a hot day.
Swimming in North Brabant
Nature pool De Kuil in Prinsenbeek in North Brabant is a great recreational area. Just check the website before you go to see if there is room. Strandbad Nuenen is also a pleasant place in the summer. Because of its beautiful location, it is definitely worth spending a warm day here.
Swimming in Limburg
In Limburg, you can have a great summer day at BillyBird Park Drakenrijk in Reuver. A fine recreation spot with grassy meadow is Day Beach AmicoBeach “Am Effelder Waldsee”. Swimming in Gelderland
Gelderland has so much nature, there are definitely areas among them where you can enjoy swimming outdoors. Recreation park Bussloo has everything you need to have a great day. And of course you can sunbathe and swim at the lake. Beldert Beach, just like Bussloo, is a wonderful place. Or another one of those recommended in Gelderland: Gravenbol!
Swimming in Drenthe
Drenthe is also a great place for outdoor swimming this summer. There are actually too many pools to mention, so you will find them in the overview. Zwemplas Schoonhoven, for example. This one is located in a small nature reserve and has lots of sand. De Lijte-Paterswoldsemeer is really a must! The area is in the middle of nature.
Swimming in Overijssel
Overijssel has just as big a list of nice outdoor swimming pools. You can find that list here. De Milligersplas near Zwolle has everything you need for a nice day on and in the water. recreation park Het Hulsbeek is, just like De Milligersplas, a wonderful place to cool off in the summer.
Swimming in Groningen
Near the Frisian border you will find Recreatieplas Het Strandheem. Here you can really enjoy yourself with a large lake and lots of space to sunbathe. You do pay a small fee to enter the grounds. And Natuurzwembad Engelbert also has everything you need for you and your children to enjoy a day at the water’s edge.
Swimming in Friesland
Lemmer Beach, also known as Lemmerstrand, is huge and therefore perfect for a coronaproof outing in the summer. Like the Groene Ster and Lytse Wielen, this is a wonderful recreational area. But Friesland has so much water, there are many more places to be found!
Of course, you can always go to the beach. There too we have found the nicest and most peaceful beaches for you. So be sure to check those out as well!
