The Valerie Lane book series by Manuela Inusa

Manuela Inusa is a writer from Germany, but that hasn’t stopped her from writing a book series set in Oxford, England. Five friends run five small stores there. Together they experience all kinds of things and share joys and sorrows with each other. The books about Valerie Lane are very enjoyable and perfect for vacation reading. The book series itself is completed, so you can read them one after the other. There are six books in this delightful series so hours of reading pleasure guaranteed!

The books of Jill Mansell – great summer reading

Author Jill Mansell has been around for many years in feel-good book country. Her latest book The Sunshine at Home is definitely a must for the summer. But actually all her books are perfect for the vacation suitcase. Staying home for a year? No problem. You can lose yourself in her books to the point where it feels like you’re on vacation.

Sophie Kinsella – funny books full of romance

When it comes to feelgood with a good dose of humor, Sophie Kinsella is my favorite. I especially enjoyed reading the Shopaholic series. Okay, I admit: sometimes I was annoyed to death with the shopaholic Becky, but I also had tears of emotion in my eyes at times. Truly a delightful series and well worth a summer read. Not too difficult, nice and simple and perfect for the beach bed. Life can be so simple sometimes!

Summer Skies 1 – Above the Clouds by Jenny Colgan

Jenny Colgan also writes wonderful books to enjoy reading in the summer and there is a whole new series from her out! The Summer Skies series is about a pilot who has to make an emergency landing on a tiny Scottish island during a storm. On that island live thousands of birds and only one man: the gruff Gregor Cameron. Looks like both Morag, our pilot, and this ornithologist are stuck with each other for the time being. Already sounds like a book you will read in one sitting!
