Just catching up with a friend, your group of friends or with colleagues. As the weekend approaches, many people look forward to relaxing in the pub and clearing their heads with good company. But that pub of old where we used to get together with the group of friends on Friday nights has become a lot trendier. Lounge bars, wine bars, beach clubs, you name it and it’s there. I started asking our (guest) bloggers about their favorite places to have drinks. I share them with you in this blog. Can you add to the list with other cool drinks spots?

Noa’s favorite places to have drinks in The Hague

When Noa meets up with her friends for drinks, they usually go to the Plein or the Grote Markt in The Hague. Millers, Luden and De Zwarte Ruiter are their favorite spots there. Millers and Luden can be found on the Plein and the Zwarte Ruiter on the Grote Markt. All three of these locations are real crowd-pullers among The Hague’s nightlife crowd. You can have lunch, dinner, drinks and in the evening you can dance the night away. So whether you just want to have a nice chat or party until the late hours, it’s all possible.

Sandra’s tips for drinks in the Apeldoorn region

We engaged our guest blogger Sandra in our search for the nicest places to have drinks in the Apeldoorn region. Because the best places are usually found by real locals. Sandra recommended Meadow to us. You can find Meadow on the Deventer City Beach. In a unique spot on the west side of the IJssel with a beautiful view of the Deventer skyline. This special place is open from April to October, so if the weather is nice for a while and you are in the area, be sure to grab your chance before the last rays of sunshine of this season. A tip from Sandra where you can go year-round is Café De Groot in De Vecht. A cozy brown cafe with a family character by the de Groot family who have owned this cozy cafe for generations.

Ingeborg has a great time in the Westland

And that is of course not surprising, since Ingeborg has numerous nice restaurants just around the corner. Her ultimate tip for drinks in ‘s-Gravenzande is at Brasserie Chapter. There you can combine your drink date with delicious shared dinner dishes. For a ‘summer’ drink date Ingeborg likes to go to Elements Beach. Here she immediately has the ultimate summer-beach-holiday feeling.

Almost Home with Sonja

Sonja likes to keep her catch-up moments with her friends close to home. And she thinks Bijna Thuis in Rijswijk is the ideal place for that, just like the Bonte Haas in Wateringen. Easy to reach by bike and especially on nice days both great places to sit and enjoy a glass of wine with good company.

Marian having a drink on a rug

What a super idea! Marian regularly grabs a rug when the weather is nice and flatters down at the Zegerplas in Alphen aan den Rijn or on the beach in Katwijk aan zee. Everyone in the group of friends brings some goodies. Add something for entertainment like a beach ball set and they have a very enjoyable evening together. When the weather is not as good, Marian likes to be found at the Borrelbar in Alphen aan den Rijn.

Ester’s favorite get-together spots around the country

My circle of friends is spread throughout the Netherlands, so when I go to visit friends, the places to have drinks are always different. For example, Proeflokaal Reijngoud in Rotterdam near the Witte de Withstraat has become a well-known address over the years. But also in Groningen I have discovered some nice places for drinks. Like Der Witz on the Grote Markt. A real old-fashioned brown café. A nice casual chat with a drink in your hand. I can also regularly be found in the south of the country. And yes, Maastricht is the perfect place for a drink. It doesn’t really matter where in the center of Maastricht you find yourself, nice places to have a drink can be found everywhere in this atmospheric city. But did you know that the smallest café in the Netherlands can be found here? Namely Petit Café Moriaan in the Stokstraat. They have a cozy bistro, garden room and terrace. As small as it is, it’s cozy and cozy here!

Other fun drinks spots

Of course, there are countless drink spots all over the country. And everyone has their favorite spot. We love to have drinks at Hudson Voorschoten, we love to sit down at one of the outdoor cafes on Utrecht’s Oude Gracht or Delft’s Beestenmarkt and Doelenplein. And don’t forget the Dutch beach clubs in summer. For example, we regularly visit Beachclub Titus, Beachclub People and Suiderstrand in Kijkduin or stroll along the row of hip beach tents along Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen. In Rotterdam you can enjoy a Spanish drink at Destino, sit on the terrace at the Noordsingel at Brasserie Uit ‘t Zuiden and Loos on the Westplein is well known.
