Totally zen 2025 in
The winter season is a difficult time for many people. First you have the hustle and bustle of the holidays only to fall into a kind of black hole in January and February. Time to pamper yourself! With our tips you can go into 2025 completely zen!
Tips for relaxing at home
Of course it is nice to visit girlfriends in winter, but don’t forget that your own company can also be quite cozy. Maybe you feel the need to be alone after the busy holiday season and enjoy the peace and quiet around you. Listen to your favorite playlist, binge your favorite series, read a cozy book or have a spa day at home. Earlier, we wrote a blog about things you can do when you are alone. Bet that after such a day for yourself, you will be recharged and zen for your family and your work? Just do it, such a day for yourself!
Go to the sauna
A day at the sauna is something many people enjoy. It makes you really zen! And it’s also good for your skin and circulation. Just make sure you drink enough beforehand and don’t eat too heavy. It’s also better not to use body lotion beforehand because the smell usually doesn’t get much better because of the heat. Have you never been to a sauna before? Then it might be nicer to visit a sauna on “women’s day.” Every sauna has some special day during the week when only women, or only men, are welcome. That way you might go to your sauna appointment a little more relaxed.
A good massage works wonders
Do you sit at the computer a lot or notice that your muscles are very tense because of the hustle and bustle of the holidays? Then those muscles could use some attention. Pamper yourself once in a while with a relaxing massage. After a massage, you will feel rosy and relaxed. You have different types of massages. There are hot stone massages, arona-therapy massages and hamam massages. The latter is also very nice for your skin. It scrubs your skin, leaving it feeling wonderfully soft. Earlier we wrote a blog with our favorite massage parlors. Everyone gets zen!
A spa day with friends
Many people start the new year with good intentions. Some want to lose weight, others want to spend less money and still others want to quit smoking. Be honest: good resolutions don’t make anyone happy, because you are denying yourself something you have always loved doing. Just try to keep it up! Make positive resolutions, such as a spa day with friends once a month (or quarter). Relaxed and fun. That is easy to keep up with and gives you something nice to look forward to. We wrote a blog earlier with our tips.
The revitalizing facial
Winter is not the best time for your skin. Inside you are exposed to heat from the heater and then outside it is suddenly a lot colder. The difference in temperature can cause your skin to pull and feel uncomfortable. A good cream does wonders for your skin, but which one is best for you? Get advice on a good day or night cream. This can be done at a skincare beauty salon, for example. You can have a skin analysis done there or have a wonderful peeling so that your skin is completely “fresh” again and therefore feels fine. Skincare professionals include the Skincare Centre in Rotterdam, Babassu with branches in Amsterdam, Leiden, Wassenaar, Grave and The Hague, Gentle Skin Clinic in The Hague.
A good night’s sleep
If you’ve had a bad night, it often affects you throughout the day. Of course, it can always happen that you sleep badly: broken nights due to a sick child, having too much on your mind yourself, or you’ve been busy with your screens for too long. Make sure you go to bed relaxed. Read a little before bed, take time to remove your makeup from your face or do an exercise that will help you sleep deeper. Like a yoga Nidra exercise. This is not a yoga exercise as you might think, but one where you can lie down comfortably. You can look up a yoga Nidra exercise on Spotify or in a meditation app. For example, I have one from Meditation Moments and it always makes me totally zen. Make sure you are nice and warm and let the sleep come over you. Tip: You may still be a bit groggy the next day. Then stand barefoot on a tile floor to “ground” yourself. Works great.
A new hair look
For many people, a visit to the hairdresser is a moment of relaxation. Have a nice chat, get your hair washed (and immediately have your scalp massaged: lovely!) and then leave completely zen. But what if you wanted to do something different with your hair? A new cut, a new color for the winter… That also does wonders for your mood! Let your hairdresser inspire you! We always enjoy going to the professionals at Quinto Kappers in Bleiswijk or Berkel en Rodenrijs.
Zen in your head
We all notice that society is hardening considerably. Never before has there been so much negativity in the world. People are quicker to get angry with each other, and that doesn’t make life any cozier. Surround yourself with positivity! This can be done very simply by setting aside a moment for yourself every day. Time to read a nice book, time for a relaxing meditation, time for a nice spa evening at home or just catch up with a friend during a walk. Or just turn on your favorite music while cooking or cleaning. If you allow yourself that moment of zen every day, you’ll soon notice that you start to feel more comfortable!
