Parents of young children sometimes find it difficult to take their offspring out to dinner. After about 10 minutes, boredom sets in and then no one sits at the table relaxing. But outsourcing the children to grandparents every time is not always possible either. That’s why we wrote a blog with tips to keep it cozy at the table. Especially when dining out with young children!

Take something to do

Children come into contact with screens from an early age. So why not bring a tablet or phone when dining out? Many children can be entertained with these for a while. A coloring book or a reading book are usually quickly viewed. For older children, you can bring a puzzle book or puzzle, but keep in mind that children’s attention spans are low. But of course, it’s even more fun to pick a kid-friendly restaurant where they don’t have to sit still for so long. We have tips!

Eat out with young children here!

Fortunately, there are many restaurant owners who understand how difficult some young parents have it. They have come up with ways to make eating out with small children fun again. This way, everyone has a fun evening.

The best pancake houses

Pancake houses are pre-eminently the best solution for parents with young children. Everyone likes it because you can choose between sweet and savory and often children can decorate their own pancake. They can spend some time enjoying themselves. Many pancake houses have a nice children’s corner, but Hans en Grietje pancake house in Zeewolde is the Ferrari among pancake houses. No one really gets bored here! There is plenty to do, outside but also inside. That makes waiting for your food suddenly a lot less annoying and the kids have a great time. But it’s also a party at other pancake houses around the country. We previously wrote a blog with our favorites.

Kenny Koken

Kenny Cooking

You can also put your children to work when you eat out with them. And that’s definitely not child labor! In fact, they love doing it! Van der Valk has created Kenny Koken. Children will prepare their own food under the supervision of a real cook. Think of pizza and other delicious things. Meanwhile, you can place your own orders and chat with your partner. By the time your first dish is on the table, the kids will have their first dish ready too. They’ll come and eat it at your table. Is it finished? Then it’s time to get back into the kitchen for the next dish. We tried Kenny Koken a few years ago at Van der Valk Nootdorp and it was very successful. You can read the blog here.

Child-friendly beach clubs

It is too time again to go to the beach. Beach tents are ideal places to go for dinner with young children. After all, with sand they can enjoy themselves for a long time and often a small playground can be found. Beach pavilion Buiten on Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen has trampolines in addition to lots of sand! Beach pavilion Thalassa in Zandvoort has a large playground where your kids will definitely have fun. On the kanaalweg in Utrecht you will find Soia. This is also a beach pavilion, but not by the sea! There is an enclosed playground so you can’t lose sight of your kids while you enjoy the food. Earlier we wrote a blog about child-friendly beach bars. You can find the blog here.

Restaurants with playgrounds

There are also restaurants with playgrounds! In Rotterdam, for example, you’ll find Lake House. Besides the cool wooden playground, the children’s menu is definitely not out of place either! Restaurant ‘t Binnenhof in Paasloo is located at villa vacation park De Weerribben. There really is plenty to do and see here. Children will not be bored for a moment! Also at the Vreemde Vogel in Vlaardingen children will be amazed and there is plenty to do. Want a day out and good food? Then Geofort in Herwijnen is a cool location. There the kids can have fun in the scavenger hunt garden while you enjoy a delicious snack and drink.

At these locations eating out with young children really is a party!
