Going outside in autumn

It may not be so enticing to go outside in all weathers, but getting some fresh air is always healthy. Especially in these times, it is good to keep moving and go outside. Afterwards, you will immediately feel a lot more active and fitter!
Cycling and walking in the Netherlands
During the summer we did a blog series on biking and hiking in the Netherlands. We gave you tips in all provinces of the country. So you can also do it in your own province! And you really don’t just need good weather to enjoy hiking or biking. Raincoat and boots on and go! You can find all our biking and hiking tips in this collective blog. That in turn refers to the different tips per province! Enjoy!
A breath of fresh air on the beach
Anyone who lives near the sea has probably done it before: get a breath of fresh air on the beach. Get dressed up, put on your boots and let your hair blow in the wind. Children find the most beautiful treasures on the beach and the dog loves it too! And afterwards enjoy a cup of tea or hot chocolate at home. But walking in the dunes is also wonderful. You walk there often just a little more sheltered so you are less bothered by the wind. Out and about with the dog? Then visit the Ouderkerkerplas in the autumn. Your four-legged friend is welcome here from October through April. Afterwards you and your dog can warm up at Paviljoen A/D Plas.
No sea, yet dunes!
You don’t necessarily have to live by the beach to enjoy the dunes. You also have them in other parts of the Netherlands! So get out there all and enjoy this beautiful natural phenomenon. Of course we have tips for you!
Out in the woods
A walk in the woods does everyone good. Strolling among the autumn leaves and enjoying the wonderful scents and colors. Children can also find lots of things to craft with later and the dog loves to sniff and run. There are forests everywhere, so that should not be an excuse not to go outside. Do you live near The Hague? Then Clingendael is a wonderful forest to go for a walk. But we have many more tips for you for a nice walk in the woods.
The most beautiful natural areas of our country
The Netherlands has a lot of beautiful natural areas. As it becomes more and more difficult to go abroad, you see that we all start to appreciate our own country a bit more. And all seasons have their own charm. Especially autumn! Our favorite Dutch nature reserves can be found here.
Have a nice walk!
Walk the City has developed a super handy app that allows anyone to take a fun city walk or walk in nature. During your walk, you’ll learn all sorts of things about the city or area of your choice complete with fun facts and anecdotes. Very different are the city walks from The Little Walk of Horrors! With these walks you will discover the dark side of the city. Unlike Walk the City, the city walks of The Little Walk of Horrors are actually 100% offline: you receive a handy booklet with clear pictures and information about the bloody history of a particular place along with separate clear directions. After a Horror Walk, you’ll know all about the city’s dark history and which buildings are haunted!
