The best outings with small children
Do you have a family with children of different ages? Then it is sometimes quite difficult to come up with something for the little ones in the family. Often small children cannot and should not yet do everything that their older siblings can. But we have tips for you that everyone appreciates, especially the little ones among us.
Amusement parks for small children
If you have slightly older children, then most attractions cannot be fast or spectacular enough. For really small children, for example, the Efteling may not yet be ideal, although this target group has been thought of as well. Also at Slagharen there is enough to do for the little ones. But parks such as Julianatoren, Plaswijckpark, Linnaeushof and Sprookjeswonderland are totally awesome for toddlers and preschoolers. And also totally fun for the older kids in the family. Familiepark Nienoord also has everything to be a fun day out for the whole family. You can even swim there! Is the weather a bit disappointing? Then take the whole family to Plopsa Indoor Coevorden! Perfect for both small children and somewhat larger ones. Would you also like to teach the little ones something with a visit to an amusement park? Then go to Madurodam or Miniworld Rotterdam!
To the animals with small children
Small children and animals go very well together. Small children are always very happy with a visit to the petting zoo. Farm ‘t Geertje in Zoeterwoude is highly recommended. Not only are there lots of cute farm animals to look at and pet, but you can also take a rowing boat out on the water and buy the tastiest products in the local store. Also super fun is De Drentse Koe. Besides a lot of farm animals, your children can play here. There is even a corn maze! Is the weather a little less clement? Then the little ones can have fun in the large play barn. And afterwards, of course, everyone has earned an ice cream, because they make them all themselves! Going to the zoo is also always a success. Whether you visit a small zoo like the Orchideeënhoeve or a big one like Dierenpark Amersfoort. To the museum with small children
Is it raining? No worries! You see, there are a lot of museums that make little kids (and the rest of the family) happy. A real winner is the Children’s Book Museum in The Hague. With well-known characters from the funniest picture books guaranteed to be a success. The Miffy Museum in Utrecht is also so much fun. Here the little ones can do everything themselves. Do you have creative people at home? Then Villa Zebra in Rotterdam is highly recommended! The ground floor is a big play-fest for small children while the bigger kids can have fun on the second floor. Here art is made very accessible to children.
Visit a castle with small children
Castles always have a great attraction for children, whether they are young or a little older. Hoensbroek Castle in Limburg is not only beautiful and impressive, but also great fun for children. For example, they have a fun scavenger hunt and you can dress up as a knight or princess. Children up to 7 years old can go on a treasure hunt at Castle de Haar to find fantasy animals hidden in the castle. But also for older children there are fun scavenger hunts to do. There is also a fun maze on the grounds. The Muiderslot also has a lot in store for the youngest visitors. There is an audio tour especially for children and even a real falconer! Heeswijk Castle also has a fun activity for the little ones! They can discover the castle and the water around the castle with Donate and Ottello, the castle swans!
The best playgrounds for small children
In The Hague you will find the Monkeybos. This fun nature playground is located in Meijendel. Even the older kids can have a great time here! Playground Westerpret in Zoetermeer is part of Westerpark and is great for small children. There is also plenty to do for older kids. In Berkel en Rodenrijs you will find the Garden of Floddertje. This natural playground is great if there is a bit of mud. Children can also mess around at Tiengemeten. This fun nature playground is ideal for families with small children because it is very orderly and the water is very shallow. Also in Ammerzoden you can find a nice nature playground: Hoppies. In Zeeland, children will be totally happy with Klok’uus in ‘s-Heer Arendskerke. This is really fun for young and old! Is the weather a little less and you still want to go to a playground? Other fun outings with small children
Does your little one love airplanes? Then the behind the scenes tour of Schiphol Airport is highly recommended! And how about an exciting outing like Glowgolf? That’s mini golf in the dark and it’s not bad at all if the older kids help the little ones out a bit. And sometimes it’s also just fun to go swimming in an outdoor area. Swim bands on and go!
